Major Crisis

well i got new rims, all of a sudden my steering wheel shakes...what do i do???
changed the control arms which were worn,changed tie rods, got tires balanced...changed brakes and rotors and still my steering is shaking when i drive...can someone help me out plz? ive had 10 different people say 10 different things...im down to either i need a adapter or a i need a hubcentric...shit...can someone plz help me out? anyone in SoCal know a place where i can go???

It seems like you've taken care of most of the things that can cause the vibration. Have you checked you alignment?

Does it vibrate more when accelerating? Could be guibo if it does.

i don't think its his guibo, when my guibo went bad the steering didn't shake at all, mostly vibrated right under my shift knob, but didn't affect steering at all. My steering wheel did shake when i had bad bushing tho.

you must be more specific of how and when it shakes.

how bad is it? when does it happen?

I assume you already had an alignment? Maybe check all tires for flat spots?

ok well it shakes randomly...alignment is fine...i can let go of the wheel and the car will go straight its just the wheel shakes(like how a wheel shakes when ur rotors are bad and u hit the brakes)...

well, I had this problem with my e34. and yeah, it is the hubcentric thing almost guaranteed! i got new rims, and shaking would start at bout 50 mph til about 60 mph.Go to discount tire or tirerack.com. i got mine from discount tires for 20 bucks. its a round plastic piece that goes on the hub between the hub and rim. before you install the rims on, put this on. they are either plastic, or metal. looks like nothing, but makes a HUGE difference. good luck!

new tires??? bent rims from where u bought them??? maybe a bubble in your tire....??? thats what my car did, then i bought a new tire, and everythin was fine??

not to be mean but i just said i balanced the tires...also, they are brand new rims and tires, not bent, perfect condition..and now my rear passanger side of the car is lower than the rest of the car...god this sux..thanks for the help, worse come worse ill pick up the hubcentrics...o and wulley, the hubcentris alligns the middle of the rim with the hub, the wheel spacers move the wheel so it wont rub on the rotor

the best i have evry found. they r not the cheapest, but they do amazing things, and are HONEST, HONEST, HONEST!!!! this is the shop that swapped my engine in 2 days without a single problem. talk to Fred.

this is the shop that custom fabricated a
1977 Porche 930 GT-slant nose, twin turbo, twin intercooled, 650 HP, freeking fastest, sexiest ride i have ever had.....
its the car porshe said was impossible to build because of the space limitations and having 2 seperate intercoolers for each turbo. Valley Euro was/is the first to ever pull it off.
they mainly build custom Porsche racecars, but fred started with BMW, and will do the work if he likes you. hes very fair, and will tell u flat out every time.

not a bad idea. as for the hubcentric, they keep the wheel sitting on the hub very....firm if you would. if the wheel is too big and doesnt sit on the hub properly, it will start to shake alot and thus, the hubcentric "cushions" the wheels onto the hub.
