Depending on what your budget is and your driving style, Mobil 1 synthetic is great. Another alternative would be a synthetic blend. I use Castrol's blend in mine and change every 5k-7k and the filter every 3k and oil change.
If it's been awhile changing the air filter is always good, as is checking tire PSI, checking bulbs, and checking other fluid levels. If anything is low, top it off.

royal purple? it's the only oil used on almost all of the speed channel shows.... It's out beat just about every oil in every test...There's a huge thread on that alone and the test proof on my 3si clubs website... I'll copy the link/info and post it.. mobile 1 is good to though, nothing wrong with that..

Most of the little things are monitored by your onboard computer (i.e. fluids, bulbs, etc.) so you will know when something is messed up. When changing the oil (Mobil 1 and Castrol are good) also check the air filter, inspect hoses, and maybe even a fuel TREATment

well like i said. if its TWS its all good. but who wants to spend like 15 bucks a litre for oil when you can get mobil 1 for like 5 bucks a litre here in canada. that automotive store brand is not close to TWS
btw- TSW is what they use in the M3 and M5 at the dealerships.
