M50 '92 Valve Job - Any advice?

I may have bent a valve at my last track event. I've got a 92 325is 279,000 miles. The compression on #2 cylinder is 0! The others are all 210-220 ft/lb The car still runs OK, but you can tell there is a problem. No smoke at all, but the exhaust smells rich.

Has anyone done a valve job on this head and had anything interesting come up?

Is there anything I should have done when I get the head worked? I was planning to replace the valves in the bad cylinder, but if the others look good I was just going to have them cleaned up. I will replace the timing chain(s) regardless.

Any performance mods I should consider? Better springs, etc.

I will pull the head myself, but I am going to have someone do the work to it.

Any advice would be appreciated.

ok have you tryed adjusting you valves? at work one of the yodas lost 1 of the cylinders an toyota wanted $2300 to fix it... I adjusted the valves and it went right back to the high end of spec! try that to you might have just loosend an adjuster nut and the valve is staying open....

Get NEW head bolts, dont get a cheapy head gasket eather

you cant adjust the valves on an e36, its not like an e30. It has hydraulic lifters.

Doh, yep meant PSI. Torque is not the issue here.

Yes, I don't think I have adjustable lifters.

Any thoughts on gasket brands. I've seen sets sold for the entire job, including valve cover etc. at the usual bmw online parts sites. Anyone had experience with those?

New Head bolts, not a bad idea either.

I got a bottom end kit with all of the gaskets. It was victor reinz brand, the motor is not back together as the pistons need replacing, but the kit seems to be fine.
