What would be the best year e36 m3 to get... as in like OBDI and OBDII thus me not knowing which came which years, parts, hp, tq, gas mileage... also, what is the best sounding exhaust on an e36 m3? my brother has a dinan cat-back exhaust on his 325i, and that sounds pretty good...

I would probably buy a '95 (OBDI)

What kind of sound are you looking for?

if you can find an OBDI M in good condition and low milage id go with that for sure,

its easier to modify. the HP and torque are pretty much the same, but the OBDI car is a 3.0litre engine where as the OBDII is a 3.2Litre.

as for exhausts there is a thread that you should review in the FAQ forum. in the performance subforum.
