Hey i have a friend who know's someone with recently totalled 94 m3. I'm not sure how much he wants for it, but probably somewhere around 2k. is it possible to swap engine/transmission/suspension from an m3 to my 94 325is?? I hope so. but if i'm gonna do it, i might sell my car and find another bimmer with a good body, but with engine problems, so i can save some money. cause if i'm gonna use my current car, i'm not sure i can afford it. But any info would be great. Anyone got a 94 3series with a good body and engine trouble they wanna get rid of??? thanks.
i was actualy gonna post a similar thread..im very intrested in swapping an m3 motor into my 318 in the future..im just wondering what all i will need and if anyone has or knows anyone with sucess doing this?? i plan on swapping a same generation m3 engine (rebuild) port and polished..will i need the whole m3 trans. or just a few changes to the current ..motor mounts? is it pretty much straight foward?? any help would be awesoem

try the search feature iwould pull it up for you but im at work and need to get back to it, theres a list that someone made of everything you need for the swap, quite extensive, and spendy!
i did a search for m3 swap came back as error..when i searched engine swap i found no lists of components or anything realy related to the m3..in theory it might be better to just get the car itself..but you can get a rebuilt m motor for about 6 g's or so with p&p and internals..in perfect condition..i think thats the route i would rather go..any plan like that is much farther in the future at the moment tho..mainly curious

yeah there are posts everywhere about this, usually comes from the people with 318s or automatic cars, usualy answer is way to much might as well buy the m3 haha, just so you dont get your hopes up to much!
but if you got the money it would be a tight custom job!
What bigred said, search for an original M3, it's not only the engine swap but also the suspension and a lot of other things! When your question is: "is this possible?" I can say "yes it is" (I've seen here many rebuilt e36 into M3s)

Do it! Find a good mechanic who will do it for cheap on the side and get it done. Keep your car a sleeper though with 318 badges so when you go race people they'll think it's only a 1.8l when it's actually a 3.0 or bigger :P that's what I'm doing. You can make this work, but it'll take more then just the engine. You need wiring, maf, started and some other stuff... I've done some extensive research on this matter..
also, a e46 motor will NOT work on a e36 unless you have the front frame adjusted
