Ok there is this button on my bmw, yea I know Im a noob for asking this, but like............it has an A on top and an M on the bottom, it's next to my shifter knob, (i drive an automatic) and when i press it, it's like my car only has one gear, it looks like a automatic window button or something

oh yea I drive a 94 325is teal bmw

what does this do, whats it called?

It switches your transmission between "A" for automatic and "M" for manual shift. When the switch is on M you can shift 1 through 3 and D.
