I'm looking to possibly buy an E36 and will be using it for autoX and track days.

So getting one with an LSD is important to me.

Is it as simple as "is" cars have them and "i" cars do not?

Also what type of LSD do the 3 series use?

you would need either an m3 or some of the 328's have them...the ones without traction control usually. those are your best bet

So none of the 325s (E36) have LSDs from the factory?

Yes, Even early year (92') 325's could of had LSD. It was a factory option that very very few people choose. In all my time looking I have seen maybe 2 or 3 early year 325is's w/ LSD from the factory. And those were BMWCCA member cars. LSD's come factory stock on all M3's..

very rarely did the 325's have them...m3's and the 328's are better chances of finding one
