LSD?

Hello all,

I wanted to ask if 98 328 comes with Limited Slip Differential stock? or is it optional?

im not too sure, but i dont think you have it. i know mine does however im not too clear as to how or which cars have it.

It's doubtful you have a LSD. If you happen to jack the rear up anytime soon, spin a rear wheel while in neutral. If both wheels spin the same way, at the same time, it's an LSD. If they spin the opposite way, or one doesn't spin at all, it's not.

I have a 98 323 and I can get my tail-end out fairly well and my treads seem to indicate that both wheels are spinng when I drift, but I havn't been able to study my treads, just look from a distance.

I'm interested if I have an LSD as well, that would be amazing.
How much would a clutch type LDS run?

like TECH said you can spin your wheels in the air, if they spin opposite ways you do not, if they go same way then you do, also check the differential sometimes they have the ratio stamped on

step 2, turn one wheel with hands

step 3, simultaniously watch the opposite wheel

if both spin the same direction you have a LSD

No. I do not have an LSD (98, 323 is audo w/ traction control)

Next time it is raining and you have an open road, then as you are pulling away from a stop floor it and see what happens with your back wheels. This is much more fun! Did LSD come on 95 318i's I know mine doens't have traction control, but I can't tell if it has LSD or really good tires, or just has no power at all (which I don't think is true).

Its closer to very little power with a combination of good tires. I could spin my goodyears but not my michelins, except in the rain. And the 318 didnt have an LSD.

I gott a button to turn traction control on or off.
I think my engine is F#%@ed up because it has very little power. I dont get it. It's accelerating similar to my older sister' 4 banger new VW bug (non turbo), of wich I was accused of tearing the tranny up :P
