LOUD Click - BMW Forum

hey guys,

Ever since i brought my car up to Hoboken (real shitty roads), i have been expreianceing a weird noise. Whenever i step on the gas hard there is a loud click noise (almost like a snapping piece of metal) coming from outside of the car... it seems like it is coming from under the middle-back of the car. I am unable to look under the car becasue i dont have a good jack right now, but i am truly stumped as to the cause. The transmission is solid when i jam the gas, so its not the bracket on that. Has anyone had this happen before?

and just an addition, it only happens sometimes on hard bumps

Sounds a lot like a bad u joint, or C/V axle.

And i took it to a mechanic and he was stumped... then i took it back to my house and figured out what it was... the bushing for the rear trailing arm wasn't as stight as it should have been. I tightened that up, and the car was perfect after.
