Loose Interior Rear View Mirror

Hi, Im new to this forum-ive been reading through though and i think its great ! more to the point though, ive recently bought an e36 318is, what a cracking drive, excellent car-nice upgrade from my e30 316!

There are however two things that are buggiing me.....

... the first is regarding the interior rear view mirrow-it should be securely and tightly attached to the windscreen right, with no movement? The previous owner said that he had the windscreen replaced. The problem is that the mirror is loose and just kind of wobbles about. Ive tried to just push it back in but it wont stay there, and nothing seems to be broken or missing. I dont want to take it to a dealership to be ripped off!Has anyone had this problem with their e36?

the second problem is regarding two small areas of rust-just around the windscreen (where the black seal and windscreen meet) and on the the top corner of the A pillar. How do i repair this to prevent it from getting any worse? at the moment the rust is visible as bubbles under the paintwork. WOuld like to do all the work myself!

With the rear view mirror... you can just go to the local auto parts store.. and they sell new adheshive... apply... if its the actual mirror itself.. you need a new one...

ya, like les said! just get some new adhesive, and glue it back

as to your little bit of rust... u can sand down the rust spot, then use some touch up paint to cover over it.. this well help it not spread!
