| Looking at a 325is, need opinion soon! Hey, new around here, and new to BMW's. I'm looking at a 1995 325is right now for my new car. I've always been into jeeps, so i'm used to simple, dead reliable cars. I couldn't deal with 9 MPG anymore, and my dad recently moved 5 hours north, so I'll be driving there a couple times a month. So what i'm looking for is a reliable car that gets good gas milage, but I could still take out and autocross, and would be fun to drive still.
Anyway, I test drove that '95 today, its a 325is, automatic, 150k miles, hardly any rust. It drove really nice, engine was smooth, no ticks or anything. I'm really picky about little things with how a car drives, so I did notice one thing that I didn't like, and I just wanted to know if its something to worry about.
I noticed that there is a small gap between the gears when the auto shifts. It wasn't severe by any mean, it just takes a second to shift. I went WOT off the line though and didn't get any slippage at all, but it shifts hard wide open. Is this normal?
My jeep was always pretty smooth through the gears, but I've never really looked into BMWs.
Any help is appreciated! Sooner the better, unless I find a good reason not to buy it, I'll probably pick it up tomorrow night. Whats everyones opinion? He's asking 3600, he said his bottom dollar is 3200, and it needs tires soon. |
