Just looked at a 96 328is...
I just looked at a 328is. It has 132K miles, but looks like it was well kept. Shifted well, engine sounded good. The only problem was a squeaking noise at the front of the engine. I'm thinking it may be the idler pulley.

The interior is clean, the exterior is very clean with no apparent body work.

He is asking $8500 for the car.

Any opinions, suggestions????

Also, does anyone have a suggestion for a good place to get a PPI near New Brunswick, NJ?

Thanks
Dave

Ask dude for RECORDS!
mileage isn't BAD as long as you have records.

Water pump (metal impeller) need to do if not done already

Automatic?...can be expensive

LOOK at the car, if it is decent i buy it!!! (paid more for mine and worth it)

It is a 5-speed. With a new clutch. Of the 328's I drove, this one had the highest mileage, but was in the best shape. Looked very well cared for.

Only you know if it is a good deal. You say it is in better shape than other cars you have looked at. If it is in good shape buy it, the mileage isn't that high for this model.

I have to repeat that you should deffinately look into the cars record book (or lack there of). These cars a VERY well engineered and built, but if one doesn't maintain it properly, it isn't going to be a good car. Records are proof of good care!!

Bottom line, the 328 (96-99) is a GREAT car. Very smooth six with plenty of torque. I have owned MANY cars (most of them German) and despite the fact that the 3series lack the refinement of some more expensive autos, they seem to me to be a solid value when weighing quality, reliability, work on it yourselfability, and most importantly FUN TO DRIVE!!!
