I noticed that my car batter is in the trunk...which is kinda cool. But, do all E36 BMW's have their batteries in the trunk? Does it matter on the year? Thanks,
yeah, i remember when i first checked out my e36 in the dealerlot it took me a loooooong time to find out that the battery was in the trunk...even the dealer didnt know....

Yeah, i guess it evens out, bcs the rca were a real pain in the rear to run under the carpet and all, geez, that was one horrible saturday for my hands, lol
yeah mines in the trunk it makes it easier to jump the car with another car witht hte normal front battery mounted cars and it is better weight distribution

Who knows. It might have something to do with the 50/50 weight distribution. I know some 4-cylinder E36s have the battery under the hood. I don't know if this is true for any US spec models, but I know for sure not all E36s carry the battery in the trunk.
Funny stoyr: back when I was naive (an lazy) I took my car to Wal-Mart for an oil change (I know, I know... I change my own oil now) and got their "15-point service," which includes checking the battery. In the service description sheet they gave me when I got my car back, one of the entries read: "-Test Battery - DECLINED Parts missing"!!! Whow would ever think that I am driving my car around without a battery?! I still can't figure that out.

hehe it took me so long to write my pst that by the time I got done someone had mentioned the weight distribution issue. It's no joke, by the way: you have heard of low-weight batteries, so you know that it can make a difference.

True. I think this is actually a more practical way pf doing it. Getting to the battery access post under the hood is easier than getting to the battery inside the trunk IMO.
