I'm not sure if it can take an M50, I don't drag race or street race. I haven't done any 1/4 mile runs either. You'll find me at a race track rather than a drag strip on most weekends :) You can see that most of my mods are related to handling and not power. I don't race on the street, so to me I don't really care if a Honda can do 1/4 mile in 12 seconds flat. On a race track, it's always a different story. Last year I did race my buddy's auto 325 and manual 318. I smoked both of them silly.

Anyways, it took me 2 years to build up to this point. So it's never really worth it. But in the end, you have a great handling car that not too many people have.

Now lets see those mods people! I know people out there mod their bimmers!

Since i bought the car in july i havent had the money to do more. But this is what i have done so far :D

i got my car ( 98 328is) at the beggining of july and have so far added:
- eurosport cold air intake
- uuc system u exhaust
- bilstein sport shocks
- h&r sport springs
- eibach sway bar kit
- bmw motor sport x-brace
- zkw euro ellipoids w. angel eyes
- e46 m3 rear shock mounts
- reinforced sway bar mounting tabs
- euro tail lights
- clear corners and turn signals
- had the yellow deleted on my headlights except when i am signalling

i am thinking of:
- hamman hm2's or bbs ch's
- m3 front bumper
- m rear defuser
- m side moldings painted
- HID kit
- underdrive pulleys
- conforti software
- short shifter
- lightweight flywheel
- front strut tower brace
i thinks that all. i would consider doing an obd 1 conversion with m3 cams and m50 intake manifold but any money i spend on this car is money i cannot spend on my next car. i am trying to talk my mom into getting an e46 m3 which i could by off her in a couple of years and all these mods do not really increase the resale value of my car.

Well, I joined the forums in July after I snagged my first Bimmer.... and you fellas all turned me on into world of modding again!

To Do List: Engine modifications
-Cosmos CAI (awaiting delivery) --- $144
-Fan Delete mod (awaiting delivery) --$90
-UUC exhaust (spring time :( ) ~$700
-Turner Pulley set (delivered and awaiting install) $184

To be decided:
-OBDII--->OBDI conversion w/ aftermarket chip ~1600
OR
-Dinan Stage 2 software programming w/ Schrick M50 intake manifold ~1200
- I guess Schrick Cams can be added to this list, but won't be considered until all over options are exhausted. ~1200
-Dinan Throttle body ~400

To do List: Exterior Modifications
18" M-Parrellel replicas w/ Falkens (delivered :) ) $1325
Inpro Euro headlights w/ upgraded Angels (delivered) $300
Clear Coners (yea I know, still haven't order these yet! LOL!) ~60
Tints: $200 (complete)

To do List: Drivetrain
LSD (this is probably last and ratios need to be researched) ~550

To Do List: Braking systems
Zimmerman Cross Drilled Rotors w/ PBR/Axxis pads- (installed) $310

To Do List: Suspension:
Still need to do some research here.

To do list:Interior
-Nothing, I love it :)

to do list: Audio
-Infinity Basslink- Trying to get this guy down another $20 then its mine
Maybe I new headunit some day.

Total Budget
$4500
Estimated actual required budget $5650 + suspension
Total Spent to date: $2353

So, why spend so much?? Well, to be honest Im sorta questioning it myself. I purchased this car so I wouldn't have to take an auto loan (paid cash :)) I only drive it 3 or 4 times of month, and I've always promised myself that I would give myself a 'project' car that I could enjoy. Now, I really need to add a new digitial camera to that list so I post a pic or two for you guys to see :)

Good luck with all of your projects

Ahhh.. Nelson has one of the most impressive mod lists. Often I follow in his footsteps whenever possible.

Looks good guys, keep em comming!

The great thing is most people will assume BMW's are all show no go. There are a significant amount of us who have modifications. Before I got my CF hood, my car looked bone stock pretty much.

Fan Delete
Afro-Engineered intake that's finally done
Some Urethane Transmission mounts
A leaking transmission
M3 clutch/flywheel/pressureplate
M3 Shift Lever
Dinan Chip

Interior:
This Awesome rip in my driver's seat
A garfield blanket in my trunk
Pioneer head unit
Some Not-so-great speakers
Window switches that work when they want to

0-60 of 6.73 seconds
1/4 mile of 15.25 @ 95.4mph (on a gtech)- yeah, that's WITH the garfield blanket and a passenger

Soon: (I'm aiming low)
A wrecked 318 for about 1k that I can steal the tranny and 3.45 LSD from. And possibly the driver's seat.
