Ok so I drive fast sometimes, well every saturday morning i tend to hit around 110 or so, and I notice that my back end feels a little floaty, I was thinking of getting a spoiler to stop this, would a lip spoiler give me any realistic downforce or would I have to go oem or upgrade to the, functional, yet ricer looking wing

I've done over 110 on "Irish" roads (Don't know if any of you have driven on irish roads, but lets just say they're not quite as well built as ye're highways) and I haven't encountered this problem. I suppose you could always fill the boot with concrete
i do 135 in my stock 323is and the back end has never felt loose
but yeah a lip spoiler is going to do next to nothing as far as downforce goes, i haven't heard from others, but maybe since you have a front splitter and there's probably more downforce on the front than on the back, that could make it unbalanced? i have no idea, i've never really heard of anyone saying their bimmer felt loose at 110 lol, if you want hella rear downforce you should get the e36 m3 ltw rear wing
good luck with whatever you choose
also:
like shahid said, well, implied, a loose rear end is a common sign for bad rtab's
You shouldn't feel floaty at that speed, I would definitely get the car checked out.
A front lip doesn't provide any substantial amount of downforce (many are made out of fiberglass and plastic) unless it's a full race splitter which would need reinforced. The standard ones do reduce lift by redirecting air flowing downward though. I doubt downforce is the issue here.

I have the same issues, im going to check my rtab's. If i got aftermarket ones, say urethane, but my recently changed lower control arms, and tie rods are OEM would my car ride very poorly? I figured I would have to do urethane all around.

ok let me restate what i said, in a straight line it feels fine, but when i drive to work i go up and down some hills when i hit the crest of the hill, my car seems like it is going up, i know this is just general physics cause the monetum of the car has a slight upward angle and at 110 there is enough of that to almost pull it off the road, but my car is in great shape just had it in at work last week, mechanic checked everything and replaced what needed to so it isnt my suspension(specificlly looked at that)
Of course I was joking, And anyway if you had filled the boot with concrete, getting to 110 might not be so easy
haha i know. i had a mate who had bricks in his boot to "lower" the car and went straight at an T intersection. one of the bricks ended up 1cm from him not being able to walk again.
if i remember correctly the lip spoiler really doesnt create any real good downforce its an asthetic aspect.. the way that air moves over the spoiler is minimal compared to say the LTW spoiler with the extensions on it. i will look into it a bit more later, but if you have any avionics (spelling?) experience than you may know what i mean.
ya i thought it would do nothing but I swear my friends dad told me his volvo s60r got 50% more downforce because of the lipsoiler, and he is a high level eaton supercharger/turbo employee
He was probly drunk! haha. I think your bimmer just wants to fly. I wanna get a lip spoiler too but just for looks. Have any of you bought one off of ebay?
All of them have 3m tape on the back to mount it. Im just not sure how good that would hold up.
