lighter won't work..but thiers spark?

Yesterday my satalite radio wouldn't fire up in my car. I checked the fuse for the cigarete lighter and it was fine and when I stuck my key in a spark flew out so thiers definitly current. Is thier something I don't know about these things not working? My wife has the car but when she gets home I'm gonna see if the car vac works when I plug it in. I will say that even befor it stoped working the plug had to be in just right or it i didn't get any power to my sirius reciever.

a spark? maybe a short circuit in the wiring, you should get that looked at, sparks lead to fire, fire lead to crying... id get it looked at,,,

if there is a specific fuse for the lighter alone than maybe pull it to remove any current to it for the time being, (however i think the lighter shares a fuse with something else)

false alarm..lol I took out the power supply for my sirius in my e30 today and it worked fine in my e36. So obviously its not the lighter socket but the power supply itself. So I stoped out at circuit city and asked the guy if he had something to replace the one that wasn't working. He smiled and poped the end off..thiers a tiny fuse inside it that blew out. lol

Your advice was sound...The fuse was an odd thing that you didn't know about. Hell it's mine and I didn't know it till he poped it open. lol
