license plate lights

i noticed the lights that illuminate my license plate (in the back, on the trunk lid) arent working. i hope that they're simply just burnt out or something. anyway-- it looks like the bulbs are somehow housed inside the little lip above the plate on that piece. are they? what kind of bulbs are needed? if its not just a burnt out bulb, then what else could it be???

its the same bulbs that are in your dome light....

Two bulbs, one on either side. Usually come in packs of two.

ok

i bought my bulbs from pelican parts, using the part # and everything, got my 2 bulbs, went to install them, and they're totally not the right part at all!

the bulbs i ordered were these:

they are the wrong bulbs-- it looks like the bulb i need is a longer type bulb that fits into a metal harness similar to that of a fluorescent bulb in a home/office. doesnt look like pelicanparts has any other types of bulbs. and on a really odd note, when i took the lights apart and opened them up to replace the bulb, there was no old bulb in there! just empty casing! what the heck. my car is full of suprises. none of them too good.

nope that ain't the bulb... as you know... Item #2. Bulb is cylindrical and has metal ends. See links below for size, shape etc...

I got mine at a local store. Product description was Dome 15 like it says in the second link. Hope this helps.

Wooo people... its a common bulb.... I dont know what it is.. volt or whatever wise... but everytime mine or a friends fails... we go to autozone.. and pick one up... not hard... not ordering and stuff...

Just thought you might want to try the easy road out...

Les

just go to autozone, tell them your car and what you are looking for. you can even replace it in their parking lot.
