Leather Reupholstry

Anyone experienced in leather reupholstry? My car currently has tan leather...but the leather needs to be replaced, it's wearing out big time. Anyone know the costs associated with this kind of work? I'll probably be switching to black...

Get Out! I'm also looking to update my 1995 E36 interior. According to www.Leatherseats.com you could do it yourself. They sell the E36 leather seat sets for the entire interior (seats and door panels) for around $750 + $25 to ship. Everything is pre cut and all you gotta do is remove your seats and current seat skins and wrap, then staple (w/ hog rings) the new leather skin on. You also gotta glue certain parts on like the door panels and viola after 4-6 hours you got a new interior.

Actually someone told me its NOT that easy to DIY. And most places around the NYC area are asking for $250 and up to do the seats, more for the door panels.

I worked in a custom car shop, our leather guy was a genius and made it look much easier than it really is.

A couple things I picked up rom him. Replace the foam cushions, the leather will fit better. Make sure the leather is good and tight, really tight. Make sure you save all of the metal hooks, and remeber where BMW put them when you put the new leather on. I saw our guy use a heat gun a lot too.

Seats aren't so bad. YOu can do it yourself, but it will take you some time.
