I am just wondering if this is common on bimmers. My friends 92 & my 93 both develope a "drip" on the inside of the windsheild after driving in pretty moderate rainfall. The weather stripping visually looks intact tho..Anyways is that hard to DIY? Thinking of a lil silcone to adhere the stripping more firmly or should I replace the whole top piece? Anyone out there expirenced this yet?

Yea it is when the wipers are on..like they are pushing the water underneath the stripping somehow. Also the corner piece on mine lifts up a bit like it's not adhered well there and it leaks down the inside of the trim..

i had the exact same problem and was told the problem is the sunroof. the tension on the sunroof has loosened a bit somehow and the water seeps down from the sunroof to the top of the windshield and then drips in under heavy/moderate rainfall.

any ideas ?

I had deteriorated weather stripping all over my car and the BMW dealer charged me about $25-$100 per section. I think around the windshield area would be like $50 maybe less. My whole trim around the windshield and cowl trim at the base of the wind shield with stripping around the engine compartment came up to $125)The sunroof sounds expensive but my guess would be $50-$100 plus manual labor at the BMW dealership.

Spread talcum powder around the outside of the windshield and then spray the inside with compressed air. You will be able to see where it's leaking by the flying talc. If no luck on the windshield, do the same on the sunroof.
