lack of power when turning

Hey, just wondering if anyone has had the same problem as me. Sometimes when i go to turn my steering wheel at low speeds i feel a lack of power. It almost feels like if i had no power steering. ive checked the steering column and it seems fine. I drive a 1993 3 series. wondering if anyone has found a fix to this. thanks.

Have you checked your power steering fluid level and the pump belt?

I just inspect all the accessory belts for tightness.

Pump belt!!? is it available for the new cars as well??

I am actually having the same problem but with 530-2002 ... I was under impression that it is the steering rack & I was waiting for the right time to change it. The pump belt is totally new thing to me that can be much cheaper than replacing the steering rack.

Can you clarify more

well like he said, just check all your belts for cracks or if they are loose. i checked all the belts and fluids, everything is fine. i was reading in a forum that where they had the same problem and they just sprayed some kind of lubricant all over the steering column. i cant seem to find the post anymore but im going to spray some lubricant and let you know how it goes. its worth a try.
