kyb shocks

hi, has anyone had any bad experiences with kyb shocks? i find these extremely cheap compared to oem bmw, and would like to know how well they drive. i dont really want a sport setup, i actually like the comfortable, soft oem ride quality, but dont want to spend a s...tload on ''bmw's'' shocks. here in africa i can only get kyb and very overpriced bilsteins. so if anyone has fitted kybs, how well do they drive?

You can order anything you want off the internet... and they will ship... I've never heard of those shocks as I would not buy them or use them.. Search around... do some research... the main players are Bilstein, H&R, Ground Control, Koni and a few others...

I used their MonoMax shocks on my 4x4 truck and they were pretty good. They were made in Japan. After about 3 years they're still holding up with no leaks or anything. I would say they'll give you the stock kind of ride and last for many years.

I do not have any experiance with them on BMW's, but I have been in other types of cars that have them. They are not quality products for auto-x or racing. A buddy with a 93 MR2 Turbo, belew his adjustable KYB struts 2x in one year. But never all 4 at once, so he replaced both times. He switched to bilstien and drove with them for 2 1/2 years with no problem. If all you do is drive like a communter, slow, no spirited or sport driving, and definately no auto-x, track days, canyon runs ect. then they *might* be ok, but I would rather go with OEM if that were the case (higher quality).

In short, I personally would never buy them for any reason.
