I've got a freaky question that all of us e36er's would probably answer the best... If cold air is denser and better for your intake is there any performance gain to your car when the weather is cold outside? (like 32 and below) Something weird I've been thinking about, I'm curious to see what you guys have to say.

colder intake temp = denser air = more compression = more power

just let your engine get to operating temp first

Air temp does play a minor role in power with a stock intake, but you must wait for the car to reach OT. With a CAI and duct directing the air to it, the colder air will have more of an impact.

Cool I figured it would do something but I haven't noticed any improvements with my car.

HOWWEEVER. This only works on MAS, (do all e36 have mas or not?) MAS actually measures the density of air. Cold air does not create a performance increase on AFM type cars like e30 because that just measures flow and volume, not density. Colder air on AFM just leans out the engine a bit.
