keyless entry ?'s - BMW Forum

I'm thinking of getting keyless entry installed on my 93' 325i but do not know if aftermarket systems will work as well because of the central locking system. It's already prewired in the trunk for an alarm/keyless and the quote I got was around 125.00 total. BMP wanted 170.00 for the system alone. Any help would be appreciated .

Yea I was thinking about doing this to my car also. I was told at my dealer that it would about $150 for it to be done to mine. For right now I like locking it with the key because then I know I can't lock my key's in my car. :P

the best system over here in the UK is made by Cliford. keyless entry, auto start by remote, full closure and opening etc..... they even do a smoke machine fitting where it fills the car with smoke if the car is broken into .....

are '98 328's wired for keyless entry? and the question remains...bmw equipment or third party....

At the shop I work at we have had the best luck believe it or not from the Audiovox product. In the past few years they have come so far on their security systems and their Mobile video products. I still would not touch their car audio stuff but we have had excellent performance out of their security and mobile video products. We also do Ungo made by Clarion which is supposed to be a very good product and we have stopped bringing them in because we used to have problems with them...Since we pickup up the Prestige(Audiovox) line we haven't had any problems! They have a kick ass 2 way fm system that has a remote that looks like a small cell phone that displays a car on it, showing if your car is cranked, if it is locked or unlocked, the time, the temp inside the car, and if the car is tampered with or if the alarm is triggered it pages you up to 1400 feet by beeping the transmitter or vibe mode...It has more features too... Awesome alarm had it on my Integra and loved it! Anyway thats my 2 cents!

i have a stellar system. it uses the factory hookups and was under 150.

Any chance of changing out the smoke for knock out gas?

as long as its bronze knock out gas. its what i wanted but the tint shop fucked up.

Not all aftermarket will. If you get the system Im talking about from bavauto.com then you can install it yourself very easily. All you have to do is remove the glovebox (step by step instructions and pics are included) and plug the unit into the factory port and save yourself 125 for the install.
