Keyless Entry/Alarm remote trouble

Ok, I bought a keyless entry/alarm remote off of ebay and figured out how to program it from instructions on the internet, but I'm having trouble. I cant get my car to initiate the code learning sequence. I did the open your trunk, open the door, sit in the seat, close the door, toggle the igniton from off to pos. #2 five times within 10 seconds etc. thing and it doesnt seem to be working, any suggestions?

What was the brand that you bought?

its just an OEM BMW remote because I already have the BMW alarm system

You dont have to do that programming like that, you will have to take the glove compartment off and find the keyless receiver, it has a small door u gotta open it it has a place where u put a chip in. Then, open ur remote and take the chip out and put it in the receiver and press the little button next to it, the red light will light up i mean the light near the heated seats buttons and next to the lighter, then take the chip out and put it back in ur remote and see if it works, then ur done, enjoy ur keyless entry.


It works fine for me.

I want to know if the remote you bought work, I want to buy one but I don't know exactly what fcc id i must buy. my keyless module is A269ZUA070, i found that is a remote that is A269ZUA071 probably this one is its couple, but also I found another one that is fcc id A269ZUA111 (newer than the other one).
wich one did you buy?

I don't see a chip that I can take out, do you? And I called the dealership they said some are programmed with a chip and some are programmed by the method I tried. so HAHA right back to you... ass

There were many different model security systems available as dealer options on the E36 cars. Are you sure that's the correct FOB for your system? Because that rain dance you described above doesn't jive with what the factory TIS instructions are for programming a new FOB. Have you pulled your panel from below your glovebox and looked at the security brain box to make sure it's a BMW box? Take the part number off it if you can. The factory BMW alarm FOBs I've seen for the E36 was on the ignition key. If all else fails I would just buy a Stellar alarm from Autowerks.com so you know you have a complete compatible system. The Stellar RTX is plug-n-play into the E36 alarm plug. They also offer the tilt/shock sensor which the BMW alarm didn't have.
