Is it in my head or is my car slower now becuase of going back to my normal 17" rims? It seriously seems a bit slower in accelerating is this normal to happen or am I crazy this morning because I didn't get any sleep?

What did you have on before the "17's". Normally, going to a larger wheel/tire combination will make the car slower to accelerate and brake, due to the larger mass to get turning and stopped. Normally not that noticeable.

It isn't the size of the wheel/tire combo it's the weight of the wheels...If you had lightweight alloys on your car and went back to a heavier factory wheel or the other way around then yes you will feel a difference..................

well said oldguy, but if the over all rim & tire size in diameter is greater than the over all size of the original then you will notice a difference in acceleration (slower) even if the combo's both weigh the same.
Don't forget that your changing the rotational mass too. The farther away from the center the mass is, the harder it is turn.... so if you have 18's with the majority of it weight @ the 18 inch mark, it will still slow ya down vs. the same weight 16in rim w/ its weight @ the 16in mark.

Not ashamed of my cars performance at all. I'm pretty confident I'll own any e36 on these forums but just curious :P... I went out and drove again for lunch and it feels like normal again... must have been because the car was cold...
you know it almost seems like the car isn't gripping as well as my other rims/tires. The power is there and it's revving like crazy but it seems to almost be slipping. Might need to get some high performance tires
hahaha thanks 89... you're the man... and we already have Torque and Jonathan Hess. So that's 3 tards that are pretty much useless to the forums. If we deleted the members lounge we'd never see them post lol

if the radius is larger, it will take more work to move the wheel one revolution. Becuase of the larger radius, the circumference of the rim+tire will be larger, requiring more torque to spin it.
