I'm trying that tomorrow morning. I think it is some sort of demo sequence. It may be different depending on the production date of your vehicle. Nice find regardless.

Yeah it does, if you have the trip computer. It's just a remote way to access all the information, so you don't have to reach down while driving. I do miss the fact that the 3ers don't have the display on the dash below the guages like the 5series, I really got used to that with my old 5er.

HECK YEA!!! i totally agree.. bimmers are way high tech even though these e36's are hella old! people are asking if I put in that computer myself from a newer bimmer! LOLLOL
So true, just look at where other car makers were in the early 90's compared to the bimmer. But also remember our cars new went for over $40K back then
You can program that switch to look at various data (on OBC).
I programmed it such that when I press the switch first,
I get CONSUM1 (fuel consumption in MPG), when I press
the switch next, I get RANGE (miles left on the tank).
All of the above (how to program the switch) is in my manual.
