Just a follow up about a bad smell in my E36

Hello all,

Just a short follow up note about the fix for an unpleasant almost plastic chemical smell in my 318i E36 that I posted about 1 month ago.

A week ago I noticed about an 8mm round opening approximately 120 mm along ribbed flexible hose that connects the duct between the wipers and the hood to the car interior.
Looking directly below this 8mm hole I found the plug that fitted in the hole wedged between some electrical cables. I have no idea what this hole is for but I can tell you if the plug is missing or there is some sort of hole or cut in this large ribbed hose then there will be an unpleasant almost plastic chemical smell when ever the blower is on drawing outside air into car.
