I just came back from a dyno day at pro-motion and my number's kind of dissapointed me. Here's a pic of the graph
Mods:
m50 manifold
carbonio intake
stromung exhaust
These numbers would have made me extremely happy considering stock m52's are supposed to run around 170whp stock...but Skunkman from bf.c dynoed 180whp/191wtq with his 1998 328i which he says is COMPLETELY stock...
So either skunkman has a beastly m52 motor or should software help my great loss of torque? I've got cams waiting to be installed but I think I'm going to get the conforti cam software with it as well

wait to get software, after you get the cams installed, get a quality race shop to do your software acording to your car... they will work with it until they get it matched perfectly and you will get alot better software with that then buying a flash that is universial... also skunkman... hes full of shit... dont trust anyone until they show you a dyno... and also different dynos will come back with different numbers...
At least your curves have a nice shape to them , which is probably due to the m50 inatke manifold. And, yes man, some engines just come out better than others. I wonder if your slipping clutch has anything to do with this. After cams and custom software you should be doing far better. 180 rwhp is still pretty good with just bolt-ons. Besides, I never worry about dyno numbers too much, since I care about how the ride feels, and not about how the graph looks.

what type of dyno did you run on , and waht type did he run on? the runs are pretty decent, and your not looking that lean, your adding the fuel and getting down to where you want to be. im not an expert on dyno graphs but it doesnt look all that bad.

Indeed. 180 rwhp on a stock m52? I know m52's are probably underrated but I cant believe it. Skunkman might have been on a chasis dyno. You used somethign in the dynojet series correct? The only perfect way to get everything to compare is to get all the variables the same. Something near impossible to do. Depending on what type of dyno, air temperature, altitude, humidity, and other factors you can vary more than you think.
Although you do seem pretty lean! How many miles on your car?
Run some injector cleaner through your system. It could probably work wonders for you.
edit: Also one of my good buddies has an N/A m52 and he makes 224 rwhp and 190 rwtq. I've seen his dyno chart and his a/f lines were much flatter and hovered at 13 nicely. Here's a list of his engine modifications:
- S52 Camshafts
- M50 Intake Manifold
- Turner Motorsport/ Conforti Software
- UUC Motorwerks TSE Cat-Back Exhaust System
- Gruppe M Style Carbon Fiber Intake
- Unorthodox Racing Crank Pulley
- Traction Control Throttle Body Delete
- NGK Spark Plugs

Gotta have good spark plugs for what he just finished doign last weekend. He just installed a nitrous system in his car. Ill post up the dynow henever he gets it done, but after only a few runs with his 50 shot nitrous setup he blew out his 3.23 limited slip differential.
