Im looking to get a new intake setup for my 1992 325i. On most of my cars I usually just put on a K&N Filter charger with a flange adapter but I want to put something nice on this time. I was searching BavAutosport and found this system. I used a screenshot because I could not link to it for some reason?!
[attachmentid=13422]

I've never heard of this company before, and I know that BavAuto usually sells good quality products. They claim up to a 31hp gain, which seems unreasonably large for an intake.

I guess my quesion is has anyone put this system on the e36 and if so were you satisfied with the quality/performance? Thanks.

if you read closely it says it CAN... more likely you'll get 8-10 at the most

Do you want true cold air or ram air?

No, I dont really want to go all out and put in a full ram air system, and I dont want to put in a cold air system that will place the filter close to the ground. I just want something that will perk up the engine a bit and I want to keep it in the price range of the intake that that I posted in the first post ($319 give or take).

What systems have you guys used and what have you liked/disliked about them?

uhhhhhhhhhh.... that pic that you have is pretty much ram air. Try JC (Jim Conforti) for the intake, I heard they are pretty nice. Oh, you wont notice much gain from either kind of set up, just a cool sound.

I'd go with a CAI unless you get a ram intake with a heat shield and cold air connection like Furious has. I have a Benfer CAI and I noticed an increase in low end torque, haven't had a chance to test the high end hp and torque yet though because I haven't really pushed my car but that time will come.

you shouldn't spend to much on an intake cuz basically all of them do the same thing. most intakes only give like 8-10 hp. just stick with the k&n intakes or get something off ebay. I am using a ractive intake right now but planning to change it for a k&n soon.

reality is that your probably only gonna get like 5 or 6 max hp out of it, and even at that youll barely feel the thing. they are cool for sound , and they do help with other mods to compliment the intake.

Yep, you'll be lucky if you get more than 5hp out of an intake. BMW's are tuned pretty damn tight, and besides, we're only talking about airflow here. It's not like stock bmw's are gasping for air.

You CAN make your own intake and stick a K&N filter on the end. Get the piping from any tractor supply store. I did, cost about $50 bucks total, and i got about an 8hp gain. I'll post pics soon.

are you referring to that bavauto pic? i don't see any sort of ram air there. just a heat shielded higher flowing filter.

[/quote]i know you mentioned you didn't want a cai, but the temperature differential is quite substantial depending on where the air source is (shielded in engine bay vs behind bumper). a guy on the m3 forum actually took temperature measurments when he installed his intake. it isn't a dinan, but basically dinan is overpriced, you can get very similar styles for much less. just one more thing for you to consider

Well, I finally picked a CAI after looking at what seems likes a 100 of em I went with the Cosmos CAI kit today.

Its definately on the cheap side (paid $140) but as stated above the HP effect of these is a bit marginalize with the precious tuning the car already has. I figure this unit is good for 75%-80% pe of a $400 intake worst case scenario.

Tons of people have nothing but praise for this thing. Heres a vid of it in action on a M3 http://www.we-todd-did-racing.com/wetoddim...kZmQzMXk1NDE%3D

Yet another item I will have to put a review in on
