Hi, I have a 94 325I and no owners manual. Can anyone tell me what the various lights on the instrumentation stand for? I have one on over towards the right that is oval and lights red. I don't know what it is for. Thanks!

is it round with three lines around it on the left and right?

if so, that's the brake pad wear indicator.

It is the brake pad wear indicator. When I install new pads does it go out on it's own? Thanks for all your help!

No, you've got to get a new pad wear sensor. Then the light will go out. Be careful though, I busted two of them ghead

I also didn't give mine enough slack, and it frayed apart in under 2 weeks.

Yes, it should, once the sensor is no longer touching the rotor. But, if the plastic part of the sensor is worn away, it would be a good idea to replace it anyway.
