Fuel filter or fuel pump perhaps. When you go to "backup" does the car die when you put it in reverse or when you give it gas to backup?
no it died when i put it in gear i drove 3 exits home after i got it to start it ran fine i starrted this morning started right up went to start agian and nothin just cranks i doubt its a fuel issue im certain its spark
not sure if your having the same problem that i did but when i had this problem it turned out the be the positive battery cable. rather the small cable the runs along with the battery cable. it some how broke free from the main cable. everytime it disconnected its self my car would die. it took me months to figure out. 300 dollars later i went to install my amp and i snagged on it a little and wha la, my car died and would start till i touched the thing to the battery terminal.
alright change crank sensor fired right up ran sluggish like it was on 5 cylenders 2 days later going down the road rpm drops to zero car dies restart get it to my friends road and died made it to a safe spot i went to restart no joy now the gear with the ! poin is on the dash meanin it went into limp mode im going try to camshaft sensor next any other clues it cranks just no fire no fuel or spark
update went to start car it fires everytime now just went up the road dont want it to stall agian i did change the crankshaft sensor maybe i can do the camshaft sensor? i checked dme and fuel pump relay and they werent burnt inside the prongs were dirty so i wiped them down and sprayed the contacts with electrical cleaner i also sprayed the crankshaft sensor port i no the car needs that because i started it and unplugged it to see if the car would run it dies instantly so can you tell me if the camshaft sensor would cause random staling and no start i may have got a bad crankshaft sensor as well but why would it work one minute and not the next
thats why i thought i had an intermit failure of fuel but i thought i was a spark issue but its random it stalls wont start waite it will work for a few days stall while driving wont restart waite a little more and it will fire right up
it wasnt the crankshaft sensor nor camshaft so im keeping the ones i got just in case it turned out to be when the dme got wet it got corrosion all over it so i took eletric cleaner and a soft bristle brush and cleaned it all off been working since so i sealed the corner where water gets in the dme compartment with silicone and sealed 95 percent of the dme with it so it can breath but cant take water i also removed the cowl hose it makes a 90 degree bend and seems useless so now i dont have to ever worry about a clog agian so if your dme got once check it for corosion mine was dry totally and the bottom board had corrosion caked onto it it ran fine intermittenly then would stall and start when it wanted it to the corrosion shorted something out .or stopped a connection so thanks for any one who tryed aiding me in finding a cure problem is resolved
