ignition switched Power points under the hood

I am installing a radar detector in my car this weekend and I need to find a ignition switched power wire under the hood, or under the dash preferable the drivers side. can anyone point me to any of these wires? The car is a 98 318ti

Tap the cigarette lighter. Ussually ends up being the easiest.

cig lighter isn't alway switched. someone in the audio form was asking the same thing....

if you can go higher with your detector you can use the the sun roof power. there are a few DIYs out thtere of how to do that.

The temperature sensor is near where you are mounting the unit, and it is switched.

If you can go under the dash, tap the green wire attatched to the key cylinder. Thats the main ignition line.
