Ignition Issues.

Hi,

I am having issues with the starting of my e36 316i

It will just whirr occasionally, then I pull back the key and re-try and voila, starts no problem. Im hoping its just the celunoid.

It only seems to have started in the last 4 weeks.

Im unsure if its the celunoid, starter motor or flywheel teeth. Just wondering if anyone can assist

Mos likely just a bad power connection to your selenoid... I'd check that... if its not that.. then your selenoid is probably working its way towards being dead. Good Luck... keep us posted of what you find out.

Just got a price of £47 uk pounds for a new starter motor and just had a guy at work check the connections. So I guess I may have to get the new motor.

lol, If I could get a new car for £47 then yeah, but I will have to settle on a starter motor for £47,

mine does it very periodically. Nothing to worry about until it becomes very common.

twice today out of 4 starts, so im getting worried!

HAHA WORRY MY FRIEND...i have the same problem....and today...*SIGH* KABOOM!!! i pulled the key out and the car kept running!!! and i coudlnt' turn it off *CRYING* *sigh* i still dont' konw what to do, i just took the car battery and the fuse out, i dunno wha ti'm going to do tommorrow

Same thing happened to my car. It was the starter on its way out. It will get worse in a little time. Order it now so you will not have to wait for it to come in. You'll have about a week or so to do this. There a bitch to put in I personally thought compared to other types of cars i've worked on.

Jiggalee, that means your ignition cylinder lock is dead...

an easy fix, just buy El pres's keyless push start($30)...and install it. Better than the alternative ($600.00) to replace the whole ignition lock, and is so much more cooler.
