idling help

hiya all, im new to this and a new bmw owner! just cheaply purchased an N reg 316i, its starts with no problem but wont idle. it misfires and cuts out, can ne body help me? cheers

Sorry.. but i'm aussie.. so dont know this N Reg thingy...

What year model is it?

If its non valvetronic.. sounds like the Idle control valve. Rip it out and clean it.

(never helped with mine car.. amazing how an idle can not be related to the idle control valve in the slightest).

yeah def clean the icv also clean your maf sensor if it stays running with your foot on the gas but cuts out you could have a dirty or bad maf good luck

also check the plug wells.. if the rocker cover gasket is leaking.. oil will start to fill up and cause issues.. especially on rainy days with misfires and cutting out till it burns enough to stop arching.

But yeah.. ICV first port of call for this.
