hey guys...i went to merced yesterday...and on the freeway the car was running really good..it had alot of power and it was smooth..when i was approaching my destination i realized a really loud windingish noise..i came to a stop sign then it went away but when i drove off again it started making the noise again and i realized that i lost alot of power and the car had gotten slower..i thought it would be the pivot bearing on the transmission or something with the transmission but i didn't think that would be the cause of lost power..and also, on the way home last night..THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON!!! .... Luckily i made it home and i opened the hood and was reving it a little and it sounded like it was an internal problem...i was thinking it might be the cams or the valves because my car makes a clicking and a little bit of knocking noise but it ran okay, and my mechanic said that noise was probably from my valves..so please can you guys help me...oh yea, when i drive and get up to 3000-4000 rpms IT GETS REALLY LOUD AND THE POWER IS NOT ALL THERE LIKE BEFORE...IT FEELS LIKE IM DRIVING A TRUCK......please help me
1. BIG LOST OF POWER..
2. LOUD NOISE FROM THE MOTOR WHEN I DRIVE OR REV.
3. I HAVE TO SHIFT LOWER THAN 3000-4000 rpms otherwise it gets so loud.
THANK YOU GUYS..GOD BLESS>>>

today in the morning i ran my car just to test it and it was acting weird agian..but the thing is that, when i was running the car really hard then that noise sounded like it was slipping and all the power came back and it felt regular agian but when i stopped, the car started acting weird agian and i lost all the power...i realized that if i was pushing the car really hard then that noise were to like slip away or go away for the moment..do you guys think its the timing chain or the timing went off or something...its weird...i dont understand..
1. i was pushing the car and it stopped acting weird and all the power came back and i could push it to 5000-6000
2. the noise came back when i stopped and drove off agian.
3. when i would push the car, it felt that noise or problem was slipping then it eventually went away and started running really good...then ran really bad again after that..
thank you guys alot...

Yes I would suggest getting a code reader. I don't know if your car supports OBDII or not but if it does you buy a reader for a little less than $100 that should give you a pretty good idea of where the problem is.
i found out wuts wrong...i kind of had a feeling that it was the timing belt..but the timing belt seems to be off and then catches back on by itself and when it catches on it seems like it advances which gives me power gain back but when it slips off a teeth or so, it makes me lose power...but i still do need to check the engine light, i do not know the cause of that...but thanks guys..ill keep you guys updated...
