i was driving today. and i floored it in first, shifted into second. didnt burn out (cuz i got new tires so i dont want to). but i did shift hard. when i got into second i was at about 3500 rpms. at about 5000 rpms my car started to shake violently. i put it in third and it stopped shaking. it keeps making a rattling noise. but not when i push the clutch. and it still shakes when i put it in second. so i drove home without a second gear. heres what i think happened.
Nice artwork. Do you have Cottman Transmission shops in Florida? If so, I've heard that you can take your car by one of the shops and they will remove the pan from the tranny, or the entire tranny, inspect it, and tell you what's wrong, all for a pretty low price. If not, you could always jack the car up, put it on some jack stands, and remove the transmission pan yourself. If you broke something in there, you should be able to tell once you remove the pan. Good luck
thank u. i hoopee its not that. cuz then i would prolly need a whole new tranny. i dunt even know if thats possible, what i am assuming the problem is. but ill know tomorrow probably. this sux.
yes, Transmissions are VERY expensive to fix.
it's roughly 500 bucks in labor just to get the thing out of the car usually, then they gotta disasseble it and fix the part that's fscked up and then reassemble it and hope the thing drives like it use to.
yea. its fucked. we dreained the fluid out of it. and there were chunks of metal. so i am assuming that my theory is correct. this is so gay. i only have 117,000 miles on it. any of u had problems like this before?
My friend has a 93 325 that has a similar problem..... he was a jackass and forgot to put tranny fluid in when he put in the tranny on his car..... yea he drove it like that for a good part of the day before he realized it and put more fluid in but the damage was done, his problem is 4th gear tho not 2nd, and yes lots of chunks of metal in the fluid when we drained it again. he managed to drive it like that for a while tho its recently gotten worse so he just bought a new used tranny with 35k on it out of a 325 that got into an accident, it turned out that its cheaper for us to drop out the whole tranny and put in a new one. so my advice would b start lookin through the junk yards for a wrecked 325 to steal a tranny from. good luck man.
