Ok well it is officially a go. I have been searching on ebay for a little while and I aquired alot of parts to get me started with my project for my 1998 318ti.
Here is what I Picked up
1. Fuel rail, with injectors and FPR $ 15.50 shipped
2. Throttle Body with sensor $ 22.84 shipped
3. Intake manifold $ 37.50 shipped
4. Cylinder head with cams, valves, ect $220.38 shipped
5. 1991 Intake manifold and TB M42 $ 41.00 shipped
Grand total on Parts $337.22
The project consists of getting the cams reground, the cylinder head ported and polished, and using the 91 intake manifold.
My car is 100% stock right now, so I am going to do a dyno a few weeks before I put the parts on. Then one probably the same day as the parts go on if possible. I am very interested in seeing what I can do naturally aspirated with a budget of around $1,000. I am hoping for around a 20HP or more increase to the wheels, but only time will tell.
I got a hold of a shop today that told me they will regrind my cams if they have any similar profiles available. I was given a price of $100 to copy the profile and then $90 per cam to grind. So right around $280 for both cams. They are suposed to let me know on Monday what they find, I hope it works out.

they will likely need to weld and then grind, because the aggeessive grind you are going with may well require material in places there is none right now for that longer duration. If that shop says they will weld and grind for 90 bucks a cam... run away fast... really fast, because I am very sure they havew no clue what they are doing and will wreck your cams. If they tell you they need a couple of hundred a cam... then that sounds reasonable
I am going with a regrind that will make use of the material on the cam so no additional material will be added. The shop is pretty well know so I trust their judgement. I am going with the Specs that Kent Cams uses on their regrinds.
