I found a 98 m3 motor with only 45k miles on it... the place wants 1800 for it so I'm not going to tell people where... I have a question though... will I need to change my computer or anything in order to make this swap? don't say go to bavengine or whatever because they never respond... I already have a m3 diff, tranny, clutch... I know I'll need new mounts, but will I need anything else?
is the 45000 on a rebuild or not, thats sooo cheap nice find! as for the cumputer i htink you will need a new one but wait to hear from someone that know sfor sure
shit... don't want to replace my dme or anything like that... what if I got a m3 engine from the same year as my car or lower? then would I have to change it
Also it's not on a rebuild engine... it's original miles. reason for so low, the backend was damaged in a wreck. the guy is just parting it, he turned it on and revved it for me over the phone lol..
each motor is very different electronicly so yes you would have th chang the ecu and harness the 325 ecu is designed to deliver fuel to a 2.5 lt motor so i would not no what to do and i imagine the ignition systems are very differnt also
Yup, like i said, and t0pk0w discussed, ya gotta replace it. The values for the motronic, fuel curve, etc. are different. ///M3 engine swaps aren't easy or cheap.
You may also have to change you central locking system (about $450) I had to do it on my m42 to m50 (M3) conversion, but it may be different for a M50 (328) to M50 (M3) conversion.
