I BOUGHT AN M3 Motor! 97 M3 Motor with 70k for 2000. Picking it up tomorrow morning in seattle area. I'm stoked! All I need is a ECU for this now.

Any ideas for what I can do to avoid getting an ecu? like a obd2 swap

Congrats. I feel as though your expenses for the engine swap have only begun, but good luck.

I do not KNOW, but would be willing to bet you would need an ///M3 ECU. The S52 engine is considerably different from the M50 or M52, but I would assume that you could still do the OBDII-OBDI conversion if you could find all the necessary parts from an S50 engine. Either way, your gonna need an ///M ECU.

Its still a M52 engine. S is the euro spec I'm pretty sure.

I think its a M52 B32

I could be wrong.

Nope. M is for regular and S is for ///M engines regardless of origin.

Way to go, I'd do the same but with my 318, I'd have to have so many things replaced in order to do a swap. Congrats, hope things work out well

I will be soon looking for a new motor for mine.... My M motor has about 160 on it... no problems mechically since it was born.. besides I replaced the water pump... she kicks ass... has some work done to her.. but I really want a euro spec... But I'm at a lose for trying to find one in the US....

Have you come by some while looking for your motor?..

I've seen 2 euro specs motors in the us selling for 10k over the east coast... not worth it :P

I'm fucking dead tired as I left at 11pm last night and drove 7 hours to kalama, wa. then slept 2 hours, loaded the engine, ate and then drove another 7 back. here's the pics... note, I took off the valve cover to clean it when I got home... It got some grease on it..

I can get a rebuilt '95 M3 engine 0k miles for about $3000. And a six speed tranny for $4300 to go along with it. You are probably thinking
