Suggestion............Lean on it first. Put your chest on the knob. Place both hands on it. Pull up.
It'll pop off and if you're careful you won't lose any teeth.

yea my shift knob swivels around. and yes i tried to pop it on tight and i ended up poping off the shift linkage..... screw you jack. luckily i was parked next to autoshop. have fun with your new knob.
thanx guys, it really is just stuck on there good, and no i didn't lose any teeth but i almost got a bloody nose. The darn thing finally decided to just pop off after minutes of struggling with it and it get be pretty good. It came off looking unscathed. Got my new knob on and it looks great. Just got this car on labor day... 1995 325is Green. Very very very nice....Gray Interior, Sun Roof, power everything, been babied all its life and garage kept, i will show pics as soon as i get a hold of a digital camera.
HAhahah...you just reminded me of when I bought my car...the gear knob leather had worn badly and I bought a replacement...the guy at the shop said to just pull it off but I couldnt get it to budge...when I went back in the shop to ask if I was doing it right he told me I was being a girl and came out to get it off...except when he did he strained and heaved on it and then it suddenly came off and he smacked himself in the face with it and split his lip!
When he moaned about it I told him it was only a split lip and not to be such a girl...he wasnt impressed but I eventually got a smile out of him when I offered him a lipstick my gf had left in a slot under the handbrake!
