I am getting my windows tinted on my four door 93 318i and it is black. I was wondering how much tint I should have done. I think they said the legal limit was 35 but they could go all the way down to 5. What would you guys recommend for best looks?
My own opinion here....I have a dark green 92 325i with 20% B) all the way around. My father has a black 750iL B) with 20% all the way around. Both look really cool, especially the black one. I've seen others with 35% in the front n and 20% in the back and it just doesn't look right with 2 shades, and the 35% all the way around n looks like a cheep tint job. The 20% keeps the interior much cooler too. I was going to include a pic but I'm at work......maybe later. An extra note.....we've had the tint for 2 years and have never been questioned about the legality of the shade.
I got 35 on sides with back 20..looks good..cant even tell really that they are two shades...go legal..aint no use to fight with it...also if you dont and a cop pulls you over dont get mad...its for their safety....I would pull you over...
I have a black 4 door 318i '95.. I have 20 on back sides, back, and i have a uv protectant (you can hardly tell its tinted) on the front sides... it looks nice in my opinion
Limo would be just pimptastical (5%) otherise, go with %20, and if you can, get uv blocking and if there is such a thing in tint film, IR blocking to get rid of heat. Do it all around, and if you are really hardcore, get something like 75% on the winshield > if they do a good job, nobody will know

Absolutely do not get the two shade tints. I understand that people do this to beat the laws regarding shading, but this was the way my car came when I bought it. First thing I did was pull the tint and match because I almost threw up everytime I looked at it.
To do list:
Suspension--- researching
UUC System U TDM- 3/05
M50 manifold converstion 3/05
off to the tuning shop for custom software 4/05
Cams/lightened flywheel, throttlebody........ well lets see what happens
Depending upon how you want your car to exactly look but if you want the sun to be out of your eyes... a good 35 even 40 will work... I have a few friends that have around 30 or higher... and it lets you see rather well... anything darker makes it rather hard to see out... I like to see where I'm going.. mostly when changing lanes... but even if you have darker tint... you will get use to it...
Good rule of thumb... unless you know so good place that will sign off your state inspection.. I'd just find the state min. and put that on. No use in having to take your tint off every year to pass a state inspection...
I put 20% on my back three and 50% on my front two.. worked out great on mine..

u are askin the question about the tint %, so that means u have a doubt in ur mind about the legality of the shade. i work for a 3M auto care centre and we install 3M Scotchtint. yes 35% is legal and if u go for others like 20 or 5, they come in not allowed catagory, so i wud advice u go for a 35% tint as it will give u a good heat control of 26% reduction in heat and 99% reduction in UV rays. install a clear film on the front wind shield as shaded tint in not allowed by law in the front windshield.
for 35% install FX ST-35 and for the front windshield install RE70NEARL film.
let me know if u have any Qs about it. safe driving.
