you change oil every 5000km? In my car "oil service" lights up only after ~13000km. In 13000km I add 1-1.5ltr of oil. Driving often hard..
None, however I drive a 1988 750il with 130,000 miles on the odometer and I use Mobil-1, 15W50. I change oil once a year or every 15,000 miles ( with the blessing of the TECH people at MOBIL) but do change the filter every 5,000 mils (top mounted cannister filter so no oil loss at change).
Don't add any, maybe I should start looking though.

35,000 miles
I have put about 7k on and no dash lights have come on to change the oil.. previous owner must of had them turned off (ignition they light up)

I add very little maybe half a quart every 3000 miles. I have a 92 325i with 130,000 miles. Since I bought the car in March i have been using Mobil One 15w-50.
It may use .5 quart every 5,000 miles but I've never had to add any between changes. I've used Mobil 1 15W-50 since I bought it new. And I don't baby it. My friends call me Fast Freddie.
I thought if you use normal oil you are supposed to change the oil every 3,000 miles and if you use synthetic blend then change it every 5,000 miles . I have never let a car go for more than 5000 miles without changing the oil. It sounds like you guys are letting them go about 10,000 or so miles. I am pretty sure that that is bad for your engine. Oil breaks down and loses its quality in 3,000 miles and synthetic gets more but if any other foreign matter makes its way in there, driving 10-15 thousand miles will really harm the engine. I will be changing my synthetic blend every 5,000 miles. Someone correct me if i am wrong so i can quit spending so much money on oil.

If I drive normal and there are no track driving days, 0 bottles. I change oil every 3000km's (I do it myself, why not?!).
If I drive hard and take it to the track, 1 full bottle (1L) of oil inbetween 3000km oil changes.
Track oil - Motul Syn. Ester 15W50 competition. (only use this for competition full track days, not half day lapping days)
daily driving/hard driving - Castrol GTX 10W30
Don't be worried if you drive your car hard and you burn some oil. You should start worrying when you see black smoke comming out of your exhaust. Don't use oil additives!
My engine has 240,000 original km's, nice eh? Take care of your motor, it will take care of you.
