Well, heading to work today on I-95 in the middle of "rush hour" and I hit black ice at 70 MPH.
I immediately started to spin, managed to say "oh shit" and just held on for dear life (although I was able to get the car out of gear). Not much else you can do when ice is involved. Just enjoy the ride.
Did 4 1/2 complete revolutions going from left to right and came to rest on the right hand shoulder facing oncoming traffic (Picture the "teacup" ride at the carnival).
Now the good news... Somehow I managed to avoid hitting any other cars (there were plenty of them on the road) and kept my car on the road and not over the embankment and down the 15' drop off. Traction control was working OVERTIME.
After a few minutes to calm my nerves and let my car "recover" I started her back up again, turned around and continued on my way to work. My car seems to not have suffered any damage in the ordeal (even the tires appear fine). My nerves on the other hand were a bit shot...I was just waiting for the impact.
WHEW!

I've gotten 2 and a half turns...similar conditions, but about 2 inches of snow on top of the ice, but did it on purpose in a HUGE parking lot...I wasn't going that fast either. Very glad to hear you are alright...

You counted 4 and a half times? Haha. I took my bosses brand new Tundra out and totally did a 360 off the highway. I ended up in the ditch and just drove it out. Thank god I didnt wreck it, I would have been in deep shit.

hahaha man that would have been a story for decades! crashing your boss's truck! bet you shit your pants! haha
ahh,. the infamous black ice. I've had my fair share of run-ins, but anyway, when I had first installed an intake on my previous car(240sx) I decided that I wanted to see how much of a difference it makes on horsepower and get jiggy with my car. I was on this expressway doing about a good 80, and totally thought I could make this sharp ass turn that was coming up.... LOL, lets just say after a good 4 spins, I was about a foot from a big ass pole that would have hit my side of the car and who knows, I could have been injured. But yeah, I shit my pants on that one. The only thing that came to my mind was scream in excitement, and then bounce. LOL, what a day that was.
Be wary of RWD, they'll come out from under you in a jiffy!
