How long do 97 328i's usually last for? Like the highest the km's can go

They last as long as you care for it.
Regular oil changes and coolant flush should keep you afloat.
I strongly suggest you replace the cooling system as it is a common problem on higher mileage E36's
If you live where it snow's, it can be a problem as salt eats thru everything

I got 270,000 km (170,000 miles) on my E36 M3 which takes constant abuse at the track. My buddy has a 325i with over 200,000 miles and still going strong
Don't neglect your ride and it will take car of you

195k original clutch still great!! Been taken care of....Tech says can easily go 400k...Just did front brakes and rotors, easy; but, had to have shop press in new lower front ball joints, ow$$$ about 330.00 us---should of just replaced the whole control arms but I had already replaced the back control arm bushings myself, easy--went with sock bushings for a smoother ride, i don't race- except occasionally from light to light for a power display..

I have experienced many BMW's exceeding 300k miles...
In my opinion they are barely "Run-In" @ 120k LOL
