Well ever since i got my 325 ive been loving it, but i find myself pushin the car pretty hard to much of the time. So far the car is doing great, but with 125+ miles on the engine i cant be helping anything to be driving her as hard as i have been.
basically my question is, how many times a week or day or hour do you redline your car? or push her to the limit in the twisties?
i think i generally am being to hard on the motor, but i just want some comparison to see how hard others are on their bimmers.
i push my 1.8 to the limit every day, probably red-lining it 3-5 times daily. i normally don't shift until about 4k either, but hey...the car is made for that shit. i've never had any maintenence problems either, car has ran like a charm since i bought it over a year ago.
i dont redline my car, as mines an older car, with alot of moving wieght.
but i corner hard, accelerate hard, and cruise rather fast.

i drive it moderatly hard, i blast it every once in a while, but for normal day driving im pretty tame, i just corner hard all the time (weather permitting)
With 144,000+ on my E36 i also cant help thinkin that somethin is gonna break at any moment.....still doesn't stop me from touchin the redline about once every 2 days.
With my E39, i dont really cruise fast, but i love killin people off the line at the lights.....since i bought it i haven't touched the redline...5,000rpm is enough!

I redline it at least once a day, usually a few times more, occassionally I'll dip passed the red.
Normal driving I usually shift around 3.5-4. Most of the time I'm nice to my car, but when I'm mean, I'm brutal. I love freeway racing so my car really gets a work out staying around the 6k mark in 4th and if it's a free for all, I'll dip into the red in 5th.

killin people off the line in a 5? i duno about that one aye
i let mine warm up to normal temp, then i get 5k so often, and hit some corners, like on ramps and stuff, once a week i do a burn out maybe, and hit red line in 2nd 3rd and 4th when i'm going all out for fun
I got about a 178k on mine, I redline at least 2 times a day, I have taken it to limits on coners/curves such that the rear end loses grip without me giving any throtte (in the summer), in the winter most or are turns are taken by drifting. BTW have'nt had any problem with the tranny or engine.
