BMW's have a high compression, thus a turbocharger wouldn't work too well. Going N/A or (if you love forced indcution), then go supercharger. The e36 ran OBDI from 92-95 and then switched over to OBDII in 96. The OBDII system (as you probably know) is a tid bti more difficult to heavily modify the engine with. One of the cars I think would match you is either the 95 M3. If you can;t find a 95, then go with a 97-99 for the SLIGHTLY more agressive grill look and then theres no bgi deal ifyou get the 96. If you can't afford the used M3, then go with a newer e36. I think you'd be matched well with the 328iS. I really shouldn't act like I know how you are, but I think you want the extra little horsepwoer here and there that come with the 2.8 liter engine.

One note, owning a BMW is defintely goign to be different tan a civic. In "bmw-land" people aren't out to be jackasses and claim the be the fastest car out there. We respect all BMW's. It isn;t abotu speed, but the love of the game. None of this "I GOT V-TEC WOOT UR CIVIC SUCKS ASS I HOPE YOU DIE IN A FIRE THIS IS THE LONGEST RUN-ON SENTENCE EVER" kinda things.

Good luck, and God (a chick who drives a 6 speed BMW) bless.

Heh, I think M Power summed it up pretty well.

And don't even mention nos with a bimmer. Shouldn't happen.

Oh yeah, and expect to pay at least 5 times for bimmer parts than you paid for your civic parts. Examples: BMW Dinan Supercharger - $6,000. Dinan Front Tower Strut Brace - $450. Dinan Cold Air Intake - $450. Dinan Exhaust - $1,200.

Now there are a few cheaper alternatives out there... but you get the idea that owning a bimmer is more expensive than a civic.

BMW engines are under estimated. With the right people working on it, the results can be quite amazing.

How much power are you looking to acheive? and what's the budget?

wow, Honda to Bmw HUH??? good luck... i hope u didn't think "hooking up" your honda was a lot of money, when u compare a cold air intake for a honda worth about 40 bucks, compared to a 300 CF cold airintake for a BMW... and if anything goes wrong with your car, be aware that it COSTS A LOT OF MONEY, anways, good luck, and welcome to the forums

I've owned crx-si, integra, then turbo and non turbo volvos, and now BMW. Shoulda done the BMW a long time ago. You'll love the difference.
You don't have to get Dinan and pay all that money for mods, but if you get an M3 you won't need more power.
BTW-Those Dinan prices are in the right ballpark. If you're paying more ,you're getting ripped. Stage 1 susp.+$1200 parts, 600 install. Stage 2 a couple hundred more. Stage 3 not nec., stage 4 if you're tracking it.
Welcome!!!

Along with the chip, exhaust, CAI, and the other stuff said above I would also go with under drive pulleys, fan delete, headers with track pipe, cams, 24lbs injectors. Don't forget about your suspension: race springs, struts, shocks, or coilovers, front and reat strut brace, x-brace, sway bars, new control arms. There is much more. Try doing a search

Yeah I really am nto sure on Dinan prices for the e36. I didn't realize it was that much cheaper for the e36 compared to my e34.

whats up, if you really want to build a motor that will handle a lot of boost, grab a BMP magazine, they sell everything for bmw's, including lower compression pistons, bigger lifting cams, etc. etc. of course these do run you lots of money, you can make this engine bulletproof running a good amount of boost for 1xx,xxx+ miles.
