Hey, i was going to order a performance chip, but i need the ECU #
i have a 94 318is, and apparently theres 3 diff. ecu #'s that i could have for my car

does any one know how to find out ur ECU #?

step by step instructions would be awsome, i would be most gratefull! im not the smartest when it comes to working with bmw's!

as far as chips, would u guys recommend the chips or those Module things i have been seeing, apparently tehre "piggy-back" designs...?

The DME (Digital Motor Electronics) is located on the passenger side in the firewall. there is a cover held on by a few screws. Inside there you will find the DME, and the EGS (transmission, if an auto). They'll be labeled as such. There is a sticker on the DME, with the BMW basic part number, and programmed control unit number, and I think one more, but I'm not sure.
See if any of those match your application. As far as suggestions on aftermarket stuff, I don't go there.
