How do you reset the Check Engine Light?

Can the check engine light on my 2004 33oci. be reset by disconnecting the neg. battery terminal? Is there a fuse that also could be pulled to reset? I haven't run a code check yet but have cleaned the maf sensor which didn't make the light go away. Any suggestions? Car runs fine.

have you taken your car to autozone or some parts store with an OBDII reader. They'll be able to read and print out a thing that tells you whats the issue with your car.

edit
theyll be able to reset your codes too.

as long as the code problems were fixed , disconnecting the terminal should work, about ten minutes then reconnect, let me know how things work out.

Just purchased a Actron CP9125 Scanned on Amazon for $45. Works great. Found an P0411 error code (Secondary Air Injection Syetem Incorrect Flow) Appears to be a problem with the air pump system, cracked/pinched hose, pump ? Checking all parts of system now but was able to clear the code with the Actron pocket scanner. Great investment!
