How do I re-gas my aircon unit?

I have a guy at work who can re-gas my aircon for me - problem is, we tried yesterday and the aircon wouldnt turn on. The aircon clutch would not engage to draw in the gas. How do I go about engaging the aircon clutch? I had the same problem on my E30 - it was a question of bridging some wiring.... Dont want to mess anything up here!

maybe your aircon motor/pump is dead? does your switch in the cabin work?

the machine pumps the air con gas in to your car.when the pressure in your air con system is between the given setting required, you air con pump will then work and cool your car..............but your mate should know this!
