how do i install a performance cone air filter??

hi guys,

i bought a cone air filter but for the life of me aint got a clue how to install itused: , shall i remove the stock filter box and the air flow meter and bung it in the pipe comin out of the engine? somebody told me that i shud only remove the filter box and install directly onto the air flow meter, the end of the air flow mtr where my filter box goes on to looks like it is square (so i assume it wiil be square when i remove the box) and the end of my cone filter is round? help is needed because i dnt knw wat im doing, dont want to fuk up my car by removing the box and the AFM. Help will be much appreciated

my car is a 95 318is

i would suggest, removing the air box, and then just putting it on the hose that goes into the box...

normally, people get the tube that will make it a ram air, or a cold air, which gives it some clearance from the motor...

your gonnna need the adaptor, or fabricate something simliar. its made for 318s , i think most kits have it, but if you bought something not made exactly for the 318 than your gonna have to find it somewhere.

im not sure bro, yyour gonna have to search it out, or maybe someone on the forums might know, i only know a bit because friends who have 318's , im not too knowledgeable on aftermarket parts for cars outside my own

cheers mate, done some research and apparently i need a MAF adaptor which goes onto the air flow meter, then i can just fit the air filter on, jus gotta find one now

jus bought the adaptor from ebay, air inlet adaptor,im ready to go now, gonna start on it this weekend,cheers for ur help guys,4 pointing me in the right direction
